My son, Nicolas, was born in Brazil in 2012.

Acording to The Economist, the best and worst places in the world to be born in 2013 are: 

American media and its biased opinion towards the Middle East conflict

Immigration is not a new issue

Bill O Reilly and a certain ``changing country``

First of all let's be honest: what Bill O"Reilly was saying is that the so-called ``minorities`` have different political views than the ``white stablishment`` ( whatever that means). So, acording to his logic, a changing demographic would be a tail wind for Mr Obama's reelection.That assumption is wrong on many levels:

1) The altruistic white male.

 So acording to O"Reilly, the ``old America`` made of the ``white stablishment`` had a diferent view of government.One of limited action.One of restraint.That view is just wrong.If we look as a simple table of expenditures to GDP ( i'm too lazy to put it here but it can be easily found on the web) we can see the the US governement has been growing non-stop for a century.Why to put the blame on a ``changing country`` ? Besides, it seems funny and naive to think of the ``stablishment`` as made of people that do not want their social security checks to clear, their Medicare or Medicaid funds beeing delivered, etc.The only people that ``want stuff``, of course, are minorities.

2) Minorities vote Obama and ``want stuff`` Jews vote Obama because ..? 

As  we  all know, Obama led among single woman, latinos, jews, yong people, etc.I would like Mr O "Reilly , being a sstrong Israel suporter, tell me why minorities vote Obama because they ``want stuff`` and jews vote Obama because other altruistic reasons not having to do with wanting stuff? 

3) Fox News

Being a libertarian, i have different views than Mr O Reilly.I believe in freedom not only in economic terms but also in personal terms.In fact, were i american, i would have cast my vote for Mr Gary Johnson of the libertarian party ( not having Ron Paul as an option).Then, i would like he to tell me why does he and the Fox news ``stablishment`` believe in less freedom and want ``more stuff ( restricting the right of gays to marry in this case) than i do?

Meu Pirão primeiro!

Basicamente só existem duas formas de se eleger como vereador no Brasil.Nenhuma das duas envolve ter nenhum tipo de ideia ou proposta.

São elas: ser um representante de um determinado bairro ou região da cidade ou então ser representante de uma determinada classe ou categoria profissional.Os eleitores, em uma grande filosofia de ``se a farinha é pouca, meu pirão primeiro`` votam desproporcionalmente nas eleições municipais nestes candidatos, que eles fantasiam, irão lutar pela melhora do lugar onde vivem ou pela sua classe de trabalho.

Os bairros de suburbio e da ``elite`` são igualmente pecadores nesse ato.Apenas para ficar no Rio de Janeiro, são exemplos de vereadores de curral eleitoral: Rosa Fernandes, a mais botada na ultima eleição ( Iraja/ Vila da Penha) , Leila do Flamengo ( zona Sul) , e não nos esqueçamos, o proprio prefeito, Eduardo Paes, começou sua carreira sendo o vereador mais votado da eleição de municipal de 1996, como o candidato da Barra, o que mostra que os eleitores da zona Oeste praticam a  filosofia do ``meu pirão primeiro`` exatamente como todos os demais.No que tange a categorias profissionais, praticamente todas puderam ser vistas nas ultimas eleições: médicos, bombeiros, professores, policiais, e qualquer outra atividade que se possa imaginar.

Um dos motivos disso, sem duvida, é o velho ranço brasileiro que a politica serve para tentar se extrair beneficios do estado.O estado aqui, sempre foi assim: quem é insider, extrai para si e para os seus uma infinidade de benesses.Curioso tambem, o desconhecimento dos eleitores.Teoricamente ao menos, a função de um vereador é legislar.Mas Rosa Fernandes se elege promovendo calcamentos em ruas, iniciativas governamentais e semi-governamentais quase como se fosse uma pequena prefeita do bairro, quando na verdade teoricamente sua função seria criar  e revogar leis.Isso mostra uma segunda característica: como os eleitores brasileiros acreditam que estado= executivo.Infelizmente não estão muito errados, pois realmente o executivo é muito mais poderoso que os demais poderes no Brasil.Mas isso fica para uma outra postagem.
