Campeão da liberdade

I'm writing to let you know that the recipient of the 2010 Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty is Akbar Ganji, an Iranian writer and journalist who spent 6 years in a Tehran prison for advocating a secular democracy and exposing government involvement in the assassination of individuals who opposed Iran's theocratic regime. Details about this extraordinary individual – along with links to resources we have assembled about him on our Web – are below.

Akbar Ganji will be awarded the Prize on Thursday, May 13, at the Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty Biennial Dinner at the Hilton Washington in Washington, D.C. To attend the dinner, please register online at www.cato.org/friedman or email me at yvinnikov@cato.org. We are expecting it to be a terrific affair, and it will feature a keynote address by Pulitzer-prize winning columnist George Will.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you at the Dinner.

Cordially,

Yana Vinnikov
